Thirsty Planet Water at The Real Greek

As you may have heard (or seen) if you’ve visited one of our restaurants recently, is that we’ve completely stopped using plastic straws and now we only use paper straws in a bid to do our bit for the environment. But why stop there in our endeavour to do what we can?!

One of the most popular drinks on our menu, amazingly is our still and sparkling bottled water. While we do recycle all the bottles that are used, recycling is not enough for us, due to the huge amount of bottles you get through each day – and that got us thinking.

What if there was a way we could contribute to those less fortunate and with limited access to good drinking water…

Well, there is a good way we can contribute to helping those less fortunate than us! And that’s through teaming up with ‘Thirsty Planet’.

As soon as we found out about Thirsty Planet, we were elated and we decided to take things a step further. We made them our water suppliers immediately!

We are very proud to say that now, all the bottles of water consumed in our restaurants, serve a greater cause other than quenching your thirst. You might not realise it, but every time you order a bottle of water in any Real Greek restaurant, you are helping people in Africa to gain access to clean water!

We have teamed up with Thirsty Planet so that every single bottle of water contributes to Pump Aid, an independent charity providing sustainable and clean water solutions across sub-Saharan Africa.  Specifically, from every £1 donated, a massive 90p is spent on Pump Aids direct water delivery in Africa. So far, Thirsty Planet has donated over £2 million and thanks to their customers, 1.35 million people have the ability to access safe water.

Thirsty Planet is all about positive action through drinking well and doing good. 100% of their donations are paid directly to Pump Aid and they have also partnered with Keep Britain Tidy, encouraging a responsible approach to disposing litter and promoting recycling. Their water is the first ever product to carry Keep Britain Tidy’s new ‘Tidyman’ logo. The water itself is British spring water, bottled at source in Harrogate, crisp and clear and so pure! Thirsty Planet believes in the power of positive drinking, and so do we. We are thrilled by the fact that ourselves and all our guests can now be a part of making a positive difference with a global impact!
